HOW DOES THIS BENEFIT 3G CUSTOMERS?

If you’ve read my last few tweets you’ll get the link to the new upgrade eligibility terms.

Here’s the part you all really need to know

We’re now pleased to offer our iPhone 3G customers who are upgrade eligible in July, August or September 2009 our best upgrade pricing, beginning Thursday, June 18.

Sounds great doesn’t it? Not really.

I bought the iPhone EDGE on March 13 2008 with a 2 year contract. On July 11 2008, I bought the iPhone 3G for the subsidized price with renewed 2 year contract. AT&T gives people subsidized pricing tiers after 18 months. Some quick math will show that I’m eligible for an upgrade on 11/11/2009, as are other 3G launch day purchasers and beyond. This leads me to ask…

HOW DOES THE NEW UPGRADE ELIGIBILITY TERMS EFFECT 3G CUSTOMERS???

Can anyone help me make sense of it all?
