Sounds great doesn’t it? Not really.
I bought the iPhone EDGE on March 13 2008 with a 2 year contract. On July 11 2008, I bought the iPhone 3G for the subsidized price with renewed 2 year contract. AT&T gives people subsidized pricing tiers after 18 months. Some quick math will show that I’m eligible for an upgrade on 11/11/2009, as are other 3G launch day purchasers and beyond. HOW DOES THE NEW UPGRADE ELIGIBILITY TERMS EFFECT 3G CUSTOMERS???
